Jack Beckett returns in the sixth book of a gripping series. The bodies of young women are washing up in San Francisco Bay. The women are from Reno and recently arrived to work for a mysterious tech tycoon. Jack Beckett agrees to help the aunt of the last woman to die after an evil-sounding voice threatens her on the phone. "Don't push the investigation or you will be next." Beckett visits the detective in charge of the investigation but gets nowhere. Eventually, he travels to Reno and learns about the women who were killed. He also uncovers the identity of the next victim, who is still very much alive. She escapes from the tycoon who must now kill her to protect his identity. The chase ends up in Mendocino, a remote village on the northern coast, a place only reachable by car. But Beckett is still in Reno. Can he get there in time to save her?
