Jack Beckett finds himself in a tough position. A young girl has fallen off the Oakland Bay Bridge and is clinging to a beam with one hand. Beckett throws himself over the railing as far as he can and manages to grab her free hand. As she struggles to grab his other hand, her orther hand slips out of his and she falls to her death. It takes him a day to recover, and when he does he vows to discover her story. She comes up as Jane Doe, an unknown with no identification. But Beckett keeps pushing and eventually discovers she was taken in by a gang involved with human trafficking. Beckett hunts down the leaders of this gang like the vermin they are. He wants them all, including the guy at the top who is making millions off the misery of others. The end is shocking but also satisfying if you believe bad guys should get what’s coming to them.
